Tech Wars Code of Conduct Technician

Tech Wars is a technical program designed to educate technicians while facilitating friendly competition among co-workers and participating Cat dealers.

Although the program is competitive, every participant is expected to demonstrate professionalism and integrity throughout the event. These expectations apply both inside and outside the competition arena.

All participants must follow this Code of Conduct:

Competition stations, tests, and activities may be discussed only with the testing officials responsible for that station.

Concerns about station failures or the validity of a station scenario must be reported immediately to the proctor at that station.

After completing a station, participants should inform their dealer team’s technician handler of any concerns requiring follow-up or escalation.

Cheating—including sabotage and eavesdropping—will not be tolerated and will result in immediate disqualification.

Participants may not have prior knowledge of a competition station or receive an unfair advantage. Preparation should come only from diligent study, training, and previous experience.

Participants must treat technicians, administrators, competitors, and staff from all dealerships with respect. Animosity, harassment, and discrimination will not be tolerated.

Verbal or physical abuse is prohibited at all times, including before, during, and after the competition.

The Code of Conduct applies in hotel and restaurant common areas, as well as at all event and competition locations.

No participant may take part in an activity while impaired by alcohol, illicit drugs, or any other substance that could affect judgment or endanger others.

Anyone who witnesses a violation must report it immediately to a testing official or their team’s technician handler. Failure to report a known violation may result in disqualification.

By understanding and following these expectations, participants help create a professional, productive, and safe environment for everyone.

This Code of Conduct is a requirement of Tech Wars participation and must be acknowledged before a participant is permitted to compete.

Administrator Code of Conduct Agreement

Although the program is competitive, every participant and proctor is expected to demonstrate professionalism and integrity throughout the event. These expectations apply both inside and outside the competition arena.

All proctors must follow this Code of Conduct:

Proctors are responsible for overseeing all activities at their assigned test stations.

A proctor may not participate in scoring or judging a technician employed by the same dealership.

Cheating—including sabotage and eavesdropping—will not be tolerated and will result in the participant’s immediate disqualification.

Verbal or physical abuse is prohibited at all times, including before, during, and after the competition.

Anyone who witnesses a violation must report it immediately to a testing official or the appropriate team handler. Failure to report a known violation may result in disqualification.

The Code of Conduct applies in hotel and restaurant common areas, as well as at all event and competition locations.

Station failures or other issues should be resolved quickly and fairly. The host dealer’s Head Technical Communicator must be notified immediately.

All issues must be reported to the Tech Wars Board for awareness.

If an issue requires escalation, the Tech Wars Board must vote on the final decision or resolution.

Section 1 – Safety Rules & PPE
I acknowledge that the Ziegler CAT Technician Skills Competition occurs in an industrial service environment with inherent hazards. I agree to comply with all posted and verbal safety rules, including mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. A designated Safety Officer and event judges have authority to stop work or remove individuals for unsafe conduct. Failure to comply may result in immediate removal from the event.

Section 2 – State Specific Liability Waiver
Participants, judges, trainers, and staff must complete the liability waiver specific to the state where the event is held.

Section 3 – Judge Stop Work Authority (Judges Only) Judges are granted stop work authority for safety purposes during the event. Stop work authority allows judges to immediately pause or stop any task if unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed. This authority is a safety function only and does not create responsibility for supervision, equipment condition, or participant performance Judges agree to exercise this authority in good faith and notify the designated Safety Officer of any stop work action. I acknowledge that this consent to use images and/or recordings is being made solely for the benefit of the organization and comes without any expectation of monetary compensation or other benefit to me. To the extent that any benefit accrues or might accrue to the organization from the use of images or information, I hereby and forever waive any interest in or claim to such benefits.

I hereby release and forever discharge the organization (including without limitation all corporate affiliates and officers, directors, trustees, donors, employees, agents and volunteers) from any and all claims, liability, actions, suits, demands, costs, expenses or indebtedness arising out of, related to, or in any way connected with the use of images and materials described herein, and I hereby waive all rights and interest in and to such information and materials.

I further acknowledge that there is no guarantee that any or all of the participants' images or recordings will be used in any released media.

I have been informed that this authorization is voluntary and is subject to revocation at any time, except to the extent that action has been taken in reliance thereon, by notifying the organization in writing.

I hereby give consent to ​(the "organization") to photograph, videotape, or otherwise digitally record and use images and/or sound recordings of myself to use in any public media, including radio, television, internet, social media, print or in any of the organization's or its partners' publications, productions, or posts. I understand that the intended use of such images and information is solely for the purpose of advertising, marketing, fundraising and/or the promotional and public awareness purposes for the organization. I hereby waive any rights or interest in the images or recordings, as contemplated in this release.
